The site of the Avoca Museum was originally the home of Colonel Charles Lynch (who called his home Green Level). Colonel Lynch was a planter who owned many acres. The enslaved community lived adjacent to the "Big House" on land that is now owned by an industrial plant. The "Lynch Graveyard" is located about 50 feet from the plantation house. The Slave Cemetery is located about one-third of a mile from the house in a circle of trees in the middle of a field. This site contains information about the enslaved community and their burial practices.
